Storage and Archiving of Digitally Born Records

Posted by

Dear Kremena,
I would recommend the following standards:

ISO-14641 – Electronic Archiving
ISO 14721 – “OAIS” Open Archival Information System
ISO 15489 – Information and documentation – Records Management
ISO 16363 – Audit and certification of trustworthy digital repositories
ISO/TR-15801 – Document management – Information stored electronically
ISO/TR 18492 – Long-term preservation of electronic document-based information

I would also add ISO 27001 from an information security aspect as the protection of the data/information contained within an organization’s records, both current and archival, has never been a higher priority than it is today (I will refrain from listing the fear-inducing litany of data breaches over the last few years as I suspect many here are becoming as numb as I to the torrent…).

If you are in Canada,
Please check Canadian standards CAN/CGSB 72.34, CAN/CGSB 72.11 and your provincial’s equivalents.
Thank you,

All, Please, would you share what policies, procedures and standards you follow for storage and archiving of digitally born information?

Thank you!!!
